International Conference on the Organic Sector Development in Central/Eastern European and Central Asian countries in Kyiv, Ukraine, April 10 – 12, 2008

Organic Services GmbH, the Organic Federation of Ukraine and the National Agricultural University of Ukraine are organising this international Organic Conference in Kyiv.

The development of the organic sector in Central and Eastern European and Central Asian countries will be at the focus of the conference. Different perspectives and experiences related to government policy and regulatory frameworks at national and international level will be discussed. Private stakeholder initiatives developing and implementing own strategies will be presented. Country cases and concrete examples regarding national as well as export organic market development, and experiences in organic certification development will be other focus areas. On the third day of the conference an excursion to one of the pioneering organic farms (about 10.000 ha) of Ukraine is offered. Target groups are policy makers, (organic) farmers, processors, traders, importers and exporters involved in international organic trade as well as organic certifiers, experts and other multipliers from Central/Eastern European and Central Asian countries. The conference languages will be English and Russian with simultaneous translation.

The conference is supported by IFOAM, Oxfam Novib, the Ministry of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine, BioFach and Ecoland Grains & Legumes / Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (DEG).
