On July 6, 2011 the EU Parliament agreed on the new Food Information Regulation that was presented by the Commission in coordination with the Member States. In October 2011, the Regulation shall be confirmed by the Council, then published and shortly after that will come into effect. On implementation all national regulations as well as past EU Regulations and guidelines will be replaced. However, there are many questions concerned with how the new rules will affect food companies.
